Leisure Field - Recreation Committee

Fairlands Playing Field is maintained by a group of volunteers. The tasks they undertake include:

  • Cutting the grass on the field

  • Strimming the surrounds

  • Levelling the field

  • Reseeding or re-turfing worn areas

  • Clearing dog faeces from the field (why do owners still allow their dogs to foul areas where children play?)

  • Controlling moles

  • Clearing the ditch and ensuring that the flow is not restricted

  • Preparing the cricket square (Cricket Matches)

  • Preparing football pitches

The objective of the volunteers is to produce a beautiful environment for the residents of the local area to relax and enjoy the facilities.

We are always on the lookout for volunteers to give a few hours of their time to maintain our wonderful fields and woodlands, if you think you can help please contact the committee. See the contacts page for details.

If the hall is in use or the bar is open they may be open later but this cannot be relied on. If using a car and walking the dog later than normal because of the heat it may be best to park in the road.
